Headout in Naples: tickets and tours review

Headout is a US platform that resells tickets and guided tours worldwide. In Naples it trades mainly through a locally named site, tickets-naples.com, which many visitors take for a city portal. Here is who runs it, what it sells and at what price compared with the official ticket offices, how cancellations and refunds work, and when booking Headout in Naples actually makes sense.

Option Best for from Note
Naples Underground + Sansevero Chapel (combo) On tickets-naples.com · 4.5/5 from 739 reviews €31.82 List price shown as €33.50. It costs slightly less than the two official tickets bought online (€18 + €15 = €33; Sansevero lists at €12 but comes to €15 online). The Chapel requires a booking, so check that your date and time are confirmed.
National Archaeological Museum (MANN) On tickets-naples.com · 4.3/5 from 2,982 reviews from €20 Same as the official full ticket (€20), which carries no booking fee on the museum’s own channel.
Pompeii entry ticket On tickets-naples.com · 4.2/5 from 17,974 reviews from €26.90 Above the Park’s official price: €25 including the suburban villas and shuttle, €20 for the ancient city only.

Who is behind Headout

Headout Inc. is based in New York and was founded in 2014 by Varun Khona, now CEO, and Parag Jain. It is a reseller: it does not run museums or archaeological sites, it sells tickets and experiences supplied by others. Its homepage says it has served more than 56 million guests.

The model is the same as big marketplaces such as GetYourGuide or Viator: you pay Headout, Headout passes the booking to the supplier and sends a voucher to your phone. If anything goes wrong, you deal with Headout’s support team, which advertises round-the-clock help.

In Naples, Headout goes by tickets-naples.com

Search for Naples tickets in English and you will probably land on tickets-naples.com. The name suggests a city portal, but it is a Headout shop: every page footer shows Headout Inc. and product pages say they are made by Headout. Checkout, support and cancellation rules all belong to the parent platform.

It is not an official site, and it is not an independent comparison site either: it sells and takes payment itself. The homepage lists around fifty products, including generic Headout items such as day trips from Rome, Interrail passes and an eSIM. Some product names include “Official”, for example the Herculaneum audio guide; that describes the content, not Headout’s status. Our full tickets-naples.com review has the details.

What Headout sells in Naples, and for how much

The catalogue covers the main sights, with “from” prices you should always check against the official ticket office:

  • Naples Underground skip-the-line with a guide, 1–1.5 hours in Italian or English, free cancellation up to 24 hours ahead and a book-now-pay-later option. Aggregate rating 4.6 out of 5 from 2,263 travellers.
  • Underground + Sansevero Chapel combo at €31.82.
  • MANN from €20, the same as the official ticket.
  • Pompeii from €26.90 for plain entry, from €40 with a skip-the-line guide; Pompeii + Herculaneum combo at a €42.90 list price.
  • Also Capodimonte (€15), the Royal Palace of Caserta (from €20), Castel Sant’Elmo (from €2.50), the Alibus airport bus (€5 one way, €10 return) and the City Sightseeing bus (€27).

Be careful with the Sansevero Chapel: booking is mandatory and the museum sells only non-refundable online tickets at €15 (the €12 list price plus booking costs). A reseller product is worth it only if it adds something, such as a guide or flexible cancellation.

Cancellations and refunds: the rules to read

Headout has no single rule. Each experience states its own, which can be free cancellation up to 24, 48 or 72 hours ahead, or no refund at all. For Naples Underground there is a real advantage: free cancellation up to 24 hours before, while the equivalent GetYourGuide product is non-refundable and Tiqets only makes it refundable if you add a paid option.

The catch is timing. Headout starts a refund only once it has recovered the money from the supplier, then within 7 days, to the original payment method. If that method no longer exists you receive Headout Credits, which cannot be transferred or cashed. Promo discounts are subtracted from the amount. Headout does not publish service fees, so look at the total on the final checkout step.

What reviewers say

On Trustpilot Headout scores 4.4 out of 5 from 63,538 reviews and replies to 99% of negative ones. On the App Store the app rates 4.65 in the US (7,585 ratings) and 4.46 in Italy (1,291). Travellers praise knowledgeable guides and smooth entry. Recurring complaints are about refund handling, confusing confirmations to show at the entrance, and queues even with skip-the-line tickets.

Pros and cons

  • Pros: MANN priced the same as the ticket office, useful combos (Underground + Sansevero, Pompeii + Herculaneum), free cancellation on Naples Underground, pay-later on some products, a well-rated app.
  • Cons: slow refunds that can arrive as credits, Pompeii dearer than the Park’s own price, no named supplier for the Underground tour, and a Naples-branded site name that can look like an official channel.

Our verdict on Headout in Naples

Headout in Naples is a sensible choice when it gives you better terms on the same product: the Underground tour with free cancellation and MANN at the official price are good examples. For Pompeii and the Sansevero Chapel, the official channel or a guided product that adds real value is still better value. Compare with Tiqets and GetYourGuide, and start from our Naples tickets guide.

We are an independent guide: if you book through the Tiqets or GetYourGuide links on this page we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. We have no arrangement with Headout.

FAQ

Is tickets-naples.com the official Naples ticket site?

No. It is a Headout shop with a local name: the footer shows Headout Inc., New York, and the pages say they are made by Headout. Payment, support and refund rules are Headout’s. No museum or archaeological site lists it as its own channel.

Can I cancel a ticket bought on Headout?

It depends on the product. Some experiences can be cancelled free up to 24, 48 or 72 hours ahead; others are non-refundable. The rule is printed on each experience page, so read it before you pay, not after.

How long do Headout refunds take?

Headout only starts a refund once it has recovered the money from the supplier, then within 7 days, to your original payment method. If that method is no longer available you get Headout Credits, which cannot be transferred or cashed. Promo discounts are deducted.

Is Headout more expensive than the ticket office?

Not always. For MANN the starting price matches the official €20; for Pompeii it starts at €26.90 against the Park’s €25. The Underground + Sansevero combo (€31.82), on the other hand, costs slightly less than the two official tickets bought online (€18 + €15 = €33). Always check the final total at checkout.

Who runs the Naples Underground tour sold by Headout?

The page does not name the supplier. On GetYourGuide and Tiqets the same kind of product is supplied by Naples Underground SRL, not by the Associazione Napoli Sotterranea at Piazza San Gaetano. If you want the association’s route, check the meeting point on your voucher.
