GetYourGuide in Naples: a review of the tours platform
GetYourGuide is the big experiences marketplace that started in Zurich and is now based in Berlin. In Naples it lists more than 500 activities and is strongest exactly where Tiqets is weaker: walking tours, food, pizza classes and guided day trips. Many products can be cancelled free up to 24 hours before, but not all, and for some museum tickets you pay more than the official price. Here is how to use GetYourGuide in Naples without surprises.

Who GetYourGuide is
GetYourGuide was founded in Zurich in 2009 by a group of students from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology and has been based in Berlin since 2012. It is a marketplace: it rarely runs visits itself, but sells those of local operators, who appear on each page as the activity provider. Some Naples products, such as the MANN ticket, are distributed by GetYourGuide Tours & Tickets GmbH; others belong to the “Originals by GetYourGuide” line, tours designed by the platform itself.
What you will find on GetYourGuide in Naples
The Naples page lists more than 500 activities. The products with the most reviews show where the platform is strong:
- Pompeii with an archaeologist: entry and guided tour, 4.8 from almost 24,000 reviews.
- Street food: a walking tour with a local guide, 4.9 from 5,800+ reviews; a pizza and tiramisu class, 4.9 from 6,300+.
- Underground: the Catacombs of San Gennaro (4.6 from 8,700+), the Spanish Quarter underground (4.8 from 5,800+), Napoli Sotterranea (4.4 from 25,000+).
- Day trips: ferries and excursions to Capri, Amalfi and Ischia.
One detail worth knowing: GetYourGuide states that its ranking also depends on revenue, including commissions that suppliers can choose to raise. The first result is not necessarily the best one for you.
GetYourGuide prices compared with official tickets
- Same price: the Catacombs of San Gennaro from €13; the hop-on hop-off bus from €27.
- Same price, but with a guide: the Sansevero Chapel with a guided visit of about 35 minutes from €15, the same as the official unguided ticket bought online (€12 list price plus booking costs).
- Above official: the MANN from €26 against €20 on the official channel, which charges no booking fee; the Bourbon Tunnel from €18 against €15 for the Standard route (check which route you are buying).
The MANN page holds a double surprise: it carries an “official ticket” badge but is sold by a distributor, and the page itself says the digital audio guide included is a guide to the city, not the museum.
Cancellation, pay later and costs
Most activities can be cancelled free up to 24 hours before for a full refund; after that, or if you do not show up, you get nothing back. But each product has its own rules: the most-reviewed Napoli Sotterranea ticket says “non-refundable”, while the Sansevero Chapel guided tour can be cancelled free up to 24 hours before.
With “reserve now and pay later” you hold a place and pay later, normally 72 hours before the start; it only applies to activities with free cancellation and instant confirmation. GetYourGuide says it charges customers no booking fee, because the supplier pays its commission; oddly, the MANN page lists a “booking fee” among the items included. Always check the total before you confirm.
Napoli Sotterranea on GetYourGuide: two things to know
The Napoli Sotterranea tour is one of the platform’s most reviewed products in Naples, and the page calls it “official”. The named provider, however, is Naples Underground SRL, a company separate from the Associazione Napoli Sotterranea, which runs the route at Piazza San Gaetano. We have not been able to confirm how the two are related: the association says tours starting from any entrance other than its own are not run by it, so check the meeting point. Second point: this ticket is non-refundable. The same provider also sells on Tiqets, where you can add a refundable option.
What travellers say
On Trustpilot GetYourGuide scores 3.9 out of 5 from more than 56,000 reviews: 68% give 5 stars, but 19% give just one, a high share for a platform this size. The app, on the other hand, is well liked (4.8 on the Italian App Store, from 120,000+ ratings). Guides and easy booking get the praise; the complaints are about last-minute tour cancellations, missed hotel pickups, rigid policies and slow customer service.
Pros
- The widest choice of walking tours, food tours and day trips in Naples.
- Free cancellation up to 24 hours on most products.
- Lots of reviews per product, which helps you choose.
- Reserve now, pay later on eligible activities.
Cons
- Some museum tickets cost more than through the official channel.
- Some key products are non-refundable.
- Ranking partly shaped by commissions.
- One Trustpilot review in five is a one-star.
Our verdict on GetYourGuide in Naples
We are an independent guide: if you book through the Tiqets or GetYourGuide links on this page we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. With that said, GetYourGuide is the first place to look in Naples for walking tours, food tours, pizza classes and guided day trips, where it has more choice and more reviews than anyone else.
For plain entry tickets, always compare: the MANN is cheaper through the official channel, and the catacombs cost the same everywhere. For Napoli Sotterranea, if you want to be able to cancel, look at Tiqets. For other options, read our reviews of Viator and Civitatis.

FAQ
GetYourGuide or Tiqets in Naples?
It depends on what you are booking. For museum and site tickets Tiqets often charges the official price; for walking tours, food, pizza classes and day trips GetYourGuide has more choice and more reviews. On some products, such as Napoli Sotterranea and Sansevero, the suppliers are the same, so compare price and cancellation terms.
Is GetYourGuide’s “official” MANN ticket the museum’s own?
It is a voucher you exchange at the MANN ticket desk for an official ticket, but GetYourGuide is still a distributor and the price is higher (from €26 against €20). The page itself says the included audio guide covers the city of Naples, not the museum.
Can I cancel for free?
For most activities, yes, up to 24 hours before the start; after that, or if you do not show up, there is no refund. Terms vary by product, though: the most-reviewed Napoli Sotterranea tour, for example, is non-refundable. Read the cancellation line before you pay.
Who actually runs the tour I buy?
A local operator, named on the page as the activity provider: inStazione for the Sansevero Chapel, Naples Underground SRL for Napoli Sotterranea. Some tours belong to the “Originals by GetYourGuide” line instead. Knowing the provider also helps you read the reviews with some context.
Which currency will I pay in?
GetYourGuide shows prices in the currency of the country you are browsing from, and some currencies may carry an exchange fee. Switch to euros before comparing with official prices: you avoid wrong sums and card charges.
