How we compared Naples food tour operators
We compared the best-selling street food tours in Naples using the details each operator publishes: price, length, group size, cancellation and diets. Nearly all of them start in the old town, between Piazza Dante and Piazza Bellini, and wind through the decumani, the Pignasecca market and the Spanish Quarter. The real differences lie in the number of stops, the drinks included and how flexible they are if your plans change.
Eating Europe and Secret Food Tours: the international formats
These are the two best-known international brands, with similar prices (around €80) and groups of up to 12.
Eating Europe
Two tours at €79: “Not Just Another Naples Street Food Tour”, 3 hours through the centre and the Spanish Quarter with 6–7 stops, and “A Slice of Naples”, 3.5 hours devoted to pizza with at least six different kinds. Full refund up to 24 hours ahead for group tours, 7 days for private ones.
Secret Food Tours
A 7-stop tour along the decumani (€79.99, 3–3.5 hours) with mozzarella, fried pizza, meatballs and aubergine parmigiana, washed down with wine, Aperol and coffee. The cancellation terms weren’t clear on the pages we checked.
Do Eat Better and Streaty: the Italian alternatives
- Do Eat Better (from €65.95) leaves from the monument in Piazza Dante twice a day, at 11am and 6pm, for 3 hours: tarallo, folded wallet pizza, frittatina, ragù, babà or sfogliatella, and espresso.
- Streaty (€69) is the most market-focused: Pignasecca and the Spanish Quarter, 8+ tastings, a dessert and 3 drinks, in groups of up to 10. It runs in English only, Tuesday to Saturday at 11am, meeting at Piazza Dante 41.
Culinary Backstreets: the long tour
“Culinary Secrets of Backstreet Naples” is the priciest and the longest: US$150 for 5 hours, from Porta Capuana to the Rione Sanità, about 2.5 km on foot with 9–12 stops and no more than 7 people. It’s designed for people who want to understand the city through its food rather than enjoy a moving aperitivo.
The street food tour on Tiqets and GetYourGuide
The cheapest option is the 2.5-hour street food tour from Piazza Bellini: €38 on Tiqets, from €39 on GetYourGuide in the version with spritz. On Tiqets the operator is Pink Umbrella srl, and it is very probably the same tour sold on GetYourGuide. Groups of up to 16. Pros and cons by type of tour
- Short tours (€38–39): half the price; in exchange the tour is shorter and the group bigger, up to 16 people.
- Small groups (€66–80): more stops, more time with the guide and often wine or an aperitivo included; the price doubles and some basic tickets are non-refundable.
- Long tour (US$150): the richest storytelling and the least-visited neighbourhoods; it costs as much as three short tours and takes half a day.
Our verdict on Naples food tours
For most travellers, a two-and-a-half-hour Naples food tour is enough to taste the classics, and it’s the best value. If you have one special evening, Streaty and Eating Europe offer more, with small groups and 24-hour cancellation. Culinary Backstreets is worth the money only if you love walking and listening. Which is the best food tour operator in Naples?
There’s no single best. If you want to spend little, the €38–39 street food tour on Tiqets or GetYourGuide does the job. For a small group with more tastings, Streaty and Eating Europe are the most balanced choices; for half a day of in-depth storytelling, Culinary Backstreets.
Where do you book these tours?
Eating Europe, Secret Food Tours, Culinary Backstreets and Do Eat Better sell mainly through their own websites, sometimes also on Viator and Tripadvisor. They aren’t among our partners’ products, so you book them directly. The budget street food tour, on the other hand, is on Tiqets and GetYourGuide.
Are there tours for vegetarians or coeliacs?
Streaty takes vegetarians and pescatarians, but not vegans or gluten-free diets. The street food tour with spritz on GetYourGuide has no vegan, gluten-free or dairy-free alternatives. For the other operators, write before you book and get them to confirm what they can swap.
Are these Naples companies?

Are there food tours with cultural visits?
Yes. GTN – Guide Turistiche Napoli runs “Napoli e i suoi sapori”, a half day combining the Banco di Napoli historical archive, a bakery on Via dei Tribunali, San Lorenzo Maggiore and a meal in a pizzeria, for groups of up to 40 and ages 9 and up. Ask the operator for the price.
