Two websites with almost the same address use it, and they belong to different people: a group of guides trading as “Choose Naples” and a single guide with his own site. Visite Guidate Napoli: one name, several websites
Search for “visite guidate Napoli” and you will find two sites with nearly identical names. They are neither one service nor an official portal:
- visiteguidatenapoli.it has no site of its own: it forwards automatically to a page on guideturistichenapoli.it, run by a group of guides under the “Naples and Italy – Choose Naples” brand.
- visiteguidatenapoli.com is the personal website of Ivano Iannelli, a tour guide.

visiteguidatenapoli.it and the “Choose Naples” group
The site presents itself as a group of Campania guides and highlights a storytelling format called “Narratori dell’arte” (art storytellers). It mainly targets upmarket travellers, families and schools. Its itineraries include ancient Naples, monumental Naples, the Spanish Quarter, the Certosa di San Martino, the Monte Echia lift, MANN, the Royal Palace, the Sanità district, Piazza Mercato, Capodimonte, the Royal Palace of Caserta, Pompeii and Herculaneum and boat trips.
What we did not find: prices, a company name or a VAT number on the pages we checked. The contacts are mobile numbers and generic email addresses. That is not wrong in itself, but it means you need to ask for the terms and get them in writing.
visiteguidatenapoli.com: a single guide’s website
The .com domain belongs to Ivano Iannelli, who presents himself as a tour guide in Naples. His site states a degree in cultural heritage conservation, a specialisation in art history at the University of Naples Federico II, and a tour-guide licence obtained in 2011. So this is an individual guide, not an agency. The site publishes no rates: you ask for a quote through the contacts listed.
How to check a licensed tour guide in Naples
In Italy, tour guiding is regulated by Law no. 190 of 13 December 2023 and the Ministry of Tourism’s implementing decree (DM no. 88 of 26 June 2024). To work as a guide you must pass a national qualifying exam: written tests, an oral including a foreign language at B2 level, and a simulated tour. Those who pass are entered in the national list of tour guides and receive a personal licence card. Guides licensed before the law keep their qualification but must register on the list.
The Campania Region also publishes informational lists of licensed tour guides, tour escorts and alpine and volcano guides, specifically to help visitors check and to fight unlicensed guiding. In practice:
- ask the guide to show you their licence card;
- look up the name on the national list or the Campania Region lists (links at the foot of this page);
- be wary of anyone who cannot or will not give you their full name.
Some sites have their own guides: Naples Underground and the catacombs are always visited with guides from the organisations that run them, included in the ticket, so you usually do not need an outside guide there.
What to ask before you book
- Total price: per person or per group, plus any extras.
- Entry fees: are they included? The Sansevero Chapel requires an online booking (€15, list price €12), MANN costs €20, Pompeii €25, so agree who buys them and when.
- Length, language and meeting point, in writing.
- Cancellation: how late you can cancel and what happens to any deposit.
- The guide’s full name, so you can check the list.
