Two websites use the name “Guide Turistiche Napoli”, differing only in their domain ending:

• guideturistichenapoli.com is GTN – Guide Turistiche Napoli, based at Via Tarsia 64 in Naples;
• guideturistichenapoli.it is “Naples and Italy – Choose Naples”, a different group of guides, which the visiteguidatenapoli.it domain also points to.

GTN (guideturistichenapoli.com): tours, prices and booking

GTN is an offshoot of the NarteA cultural association, active since 2007 and known in Naples for its theatrical guided visits, with which it shares the Via Tarsia address. The site says all its guides are authorised and hold a regional licence, and lets you pay for walking tours online by card or PayPal.

The catalogue covers Naples and the other Campania provinces: the historic centre, monumental Naples, the Spanish Quarter, the Certosa di San Martino, the Phlegraean Fields, an Elena Ferrante itinerary, Pompeii, Procida, Sorrento and a food tour. The historic-centre walk starts from €10, lasts 3 hours and takes up to 40 people. The “Napoli e i suoi sapori” food tour visits the Banco di Napoli historical archive, a bakery on Via dei Tribunali and San Lorenzo Maggiore, ending in a pizzeria; no price is shown.

Worth knowing: these are group tours of up to 40 people. For something more intimate you need a private tour. GTN has a page on Tripadvisor, but we could not read its score.

Choose Naples (guideturistichenapoli.it): tours on request

The .it site presents a group of Campania guides with a storytelling format, “Narratori dell’arte”, aimed at upmarket travellers, families and schools. Itineraries range from ancient and monumental Naples to MANN, the Royal Palace, the Sanità district, Capodimonte, the Royal Palace of Caserta, Pompeii, Herculaneum and boat trips. It publishes no prices, and the pages we checked show no company name or VAT number: you work from a quote, which you should get in writing.

How to check a licensed tour guide

Since 2023 the profession has been regulated nationally by Law no. 190 of 13 December 2023. To become a guide you must pass a national exam and be entered in the Ministry of Tourism’s national list of tour guides, which issues a personal licence card; guides licensed earlier keep their qualification but must register. The Campania Region also publishes informational lists of licensed guides, designed precisely so visitors can check.

Three simple steps: ask for the licence card, check the name on the lists (links at the foot of this page), and get the price, entry fees, length and cancellation confirmed in writing. Other guide cooperatives and associations also work in the area: a website name tells you nothing about a licence, the card does.

For a first, low-cost walk around the historic centre, GTN is a concrete option with clear pricing; just ask whether entry fees are included.
