Two sites, one view
Castel Sant’Elmo is the military silhouette on the ridge: walk the walls and the bay opens below. The Certosa di San Martino is the other face — cloisters, sculpture and collections that tell Naples from altitude. Together they are the clearest high-city day.

Are Sant'Elmo and San Martino the same place?
No. Sant'Elmo is the star-shaped fortress with panoramic terraces; San Martino is the charterhouse with cloisters, church and museum. They sit side by side on Vomero but tickets and routes can differ.
How do I reach Vomero?
Funiculars from the centre (Centrale, Chiaia, Montesanto) or Metro Line 1 (Vanvitelli). Do not underestimate the uphill walk in heat.
How long do I need?
For both sites allow at least half a day including viewpoints. Terraces-only at Sant’Elmo can be shorter, but you miss the Certosa.
