Alibus Naples review: the airport bus to the station and port
Alibus is run by ANM, the City of Naples public transport company, and links Capodichino Airport with Piazza Garibaldi (Napoli Centrale station) and the port, stopping for both the Porta di Massa ferries and the Molo Beverello hydrofoils. It costs €5, runs at least every 15 minutes and gets you to the station in a quarter of an hour. Travelling light, alone or as a couple, it is almost always the sensible way into town; with four people, big suitcases or a hotel far from the stops, the fixed-fare taxi starts to compete.

Who runs Alibus, and what it is not
Alibus is operated by ANM S.p.A., the company controlled by the City of Naples that also runs metro Lines 1 and 6, the funiculars and the city bus and tram network. It is a public transport line with a special fare, designed for people flying in or out and for anyone heading to the ferries.
It is not a sightseeing bus: no commentary, no hopping on and off at attractions. That is what the privately run City Sightseeing buses are for, with their own tickets. And metro Line 1 does not reach the airport yet, even though some maps already show the future station.
Alibus route, stops and timetable
- From the airport: Capodichino Airport → Piazza Garibaldi (Napoli Centrale) → Immacolatella/Porta di Massa (Caremar ferries) → Molo Angioino/Beverello (Stazione Marittima, hydrofoils).
- To the airport: Molo Angioino/Beverello → Immacolatella/Porta di Massa → Varco Pisacane (opposite the Port Authority) → Piazza Garibaldi → Airport.
Buses run every day. From the airport, the first leaves at 05:30 and the last at midnight; from the port, 05:30 to 23:35; from Piazza Garibaldi to the airport, 05:10 to 23:50. ANM gives a maximum interval of 15 minutes and these journey times: 15 minutes from the airport to Napoli Centrale, 35 to the port, 20 between the port and the station. City-centre roads are often jammed at rush hour, so leave a buffer if you have a hydrofoil to catch.
Alibus tickets: price, where to buy, validation
There is one price: €5. You get two options for the same money: a single-ride ticket, and the Ticket Unico Alibus, which lasts 90 minutes from first validation and also covers other city transport. If you are taking the metro on from the station, choose the second.

- ticket machines at the exit of the Arrivals terminal;
- the ANM Go, UnicoCampania, MyCicero and Gira Napoli apps;
- online at aeroportodinapoli.it and Booking.com;
- any contactless card, through the Tap&Go system;
- authorised shops near the airport, station and port, and the ANM Point in Piazza Garibaldi.
Two rules to remember: validate as soon as you board and keep the ticket until you get off; ordinary ANM tickets, passes and the Artecard are not valid on Alibus.
Alibus, taxi or shared taxi: the numbers
Taxis from the airport charge fixed fares set by the City of Naples. Ask the driver for the fixed fare before you set off. Fares are per car, not per person, and include luggage and night and holiday supplements; a minivan costs €5 extra.

- Airport → port, Molo Beverello, Piazza Municipio: €24
For two people Alibus costs €10 against €24 to the port; for four, €20 against €24, and the taxi drops you at the hotel. There is also a shared taxi on the airport–Napoli Centrale–Molo Beverello route: €6 per person including luggage. It leaves from the “Pick-up” car park about 100 metres from Arrivals, 15 minutes after at least three passengers have turned up.
Alibus pros and cons
- Pros: a low fare that is the same on every channel; frequent buses from dawn to midnight; stops that work for trains (Napoli Centrale and the Circumvesuviana at Piazza Garibaldi) and for ferries; contactless payment, so no queuing for a ticket.
- Cons: only four stops, so Chiaia, Vomero or the historic centre mean a change; no service after midnight; with big cases and children, the fixed-fare taxi is far more comfortable.
Our verdict on Alibus Naples
Alibus does one job well: it gets you from the airport to the station or the port quickly and cheaply. If you are heading on by train to Pompeii or Sorrento on the Circumvesuviana, or by hydrofoil to Capri, Ischia and the Amalfi Coast, it is the obvious choice. The ticket costs €5 everywhere, so buying it from the driver, in an app, by card or through a site such as Tiqets does not change the price: use whatever is easiest. How much is Alibus and where do I buy a ticket?
A ride costs €5. The easiest way is to tap a contactless card on the validator on board; otherwise pay the driver, use the machines at the Arrivals exit or one of the ANM Go and UnicoCampania apps. Remember to validate your ticket as soon as you board.
Can I use a day ticket or the Artecard on Alibus?
No. Alibus has its own special fare: ordinary city and regional tickets and passes are not valid, and neither is the Artecard. Pass holders still need to buy the €5 Alibus ticket.
Does Alibus go to Molo Beverello for the hydrofoils?
Yes. After Piazza Garibaldi it stops at Immacolatella/Porta di Massa, where the Caremar ferries leave, and ends at Molo Angioino/Beverello by the Stazione Marittima, the departure point for hydrofoils to Capri and Ischia. Allow about 35 minutes from the airport.
What time is the last Alibus?
The last bus leaves the airport at midnight; from the port it is 23:35, and from Piazza Garibaldi to the airport 23:50. If you land later, plan on a fixed-fare taxi.
Alibus or taxi: which is better value?
Alone or as a couple, Alibus almost always wins: €5 each against €21 for a taxi to Napoli Centrale or €24 to the port. With four people the gap shrinks to a few euros and the taxi drops you at your door. There is also a shared taxi at €6 per person on the airport–Centrale–Beverello route.
Does the metro reach the airport?
Not yet. Line 1’s Capodichino station is not open and has no confirmed opening date. For now the practical combination is Alibus to Piazza Garibaldi, then metro Line 1, using the 90-minute Ticket Unico Alibus.
