Campania Artecard: our review

Who runs the Campania Artecard

The Artecard is run by Scabec, the company that works for the Campania region on promoting its cultural heritage; the pass website carries the region’s branding. So this is not a private reseller bundling tickets but the official network recognised by state museums, archaeological parks and a number of private sites. It covers around 80 cultural sites, from MANN to Pompeii and Herculaneum and the Royal Palace of Caserta.

What it sells and at what price

Nine passes, with prices unchanged since 30 November 2023:

• Napoli 3 days – €27: 3 sites included in the city, then reduced; city transport.
• Campania 3 days – €41: 2 sites included anywhere in the region, then reduced; regional transport.
• Campania 7 days – €43: 5 sites included, no transport.
• 365 Lite – €26 (one entry per site for a year) and 365 Gold – €50 (two entries per site), no transport.
• Youth versions (ages 18–25): Napoli 3 days €16, Campania 3 days €30, 365 Gold €36, 365 Lite €16.

Buying, activation and cancellation

The card is digital only: you buy it on the official website, in the “artecard” app or at sales points (the Infopoint at Piazza del Gesù 7, the Box Office in Galleria Umberto I, and Tempio Travel inside Pompeii’s Circumvesuviana station). You activate it yourself by tapping “ATTIVA” at your first turnstile or ticket desk, and it cannot be undone or paused; days are counted by the calendar, up to 23:59 on the last one. Every visit is validated at the ticket desk by showing the QR code.

Two special cases. If you buy on GetYourGuide you receive a voucher that must be converted: you register in the app and send your email address to the Artecard WhatsApp line (Monday–Friday 10–17). On Tiqets, cancellation is free up to 24 hours before; on the official channel, read the terms when you buy, bearing in mind that there is no going back once the pass is activated.

What travellers say

On Tiqets the Artecard averages 4.7 out of 5 from 148 reviews. The praise is consistent: good savings when Pompeii, MANN and transport are all in the plan, and the reserved Piazza Esedra entrance at Pompeii. Travel forums also carry reports of app glitches, login trouble, waits of several minutes for activation and support that is not always quick. These are individual experiences, but they point to one practical tip: install the app and check your pass before you reach the first site.

A note on accuracy: some pages on the Artecard website are out of date. The MANN page, for example, still lists a €15 price without the pass, while the museum now charges €20. For prices and hours of individual sites, always rely on the museums’ own official websites.

Campania Artecard pros and cons

Pros

• Real savings when you visit several pricey state sites (MANN and Pompeii at €20, Capodimonte and the Royal Palace at €15).
• Unlimited transport on the 3-day versions, with the Circumvesuviana included on Campania 3 days.
• A reserved entrance at Pompeii and reduced rates even after the free entries (€10 instead of €20 at MANN).

Cons

• Nine similar versions are confusing, and it is easy to buy the wrong one.
• Activation cannot be undone and validity runs by calendar day.
• Popular sights such as Sansevero and Napoli Sotterranea are excluded; no Alibus or Campania Express.
• Little use to under-18s and to EU citizens aged 18–25, who already get into state sites free or for €2.

Our verdict on the Campania Artecard

The Campania Artecard is a solid product and often good value: for three days between Naples and Pompeii, or a week with five visits, single tickets rarely beat it. But choose it methodically before you travel and use it with a bit of planning.
